The Associate in Applied Science in Architectural Technology provides students with the opportunity to study the ideas, methods, and processes by which architecture is conceptualized, designed, and built. The curriculum focuses on the latest building delivery processes and software, as well as the design process and communication methods.
The AAS degree has two options students can pursue based on their educational and professional goals. The Technology Option focuses on the specific software and workflows used in the building delivery process, specifically computer aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM), and the Design Option focuses on the principles of architectural design and the methods used to communicate them to clients and stakeholders.
Graduates of the program can seek employment in architecture and building design-related firms as entry-level designers or in architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms as entry-level computer aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) technicians or transfer their credits to a bachelor’s degree program giving a student the opportunity to continue their education. Students pursuing the Design Option can also transfer to an architecture program offering a bachelor’s degree giving a student the opportunity to pursue an architectural license.
